Covington launches footsteps2brilliance

Covington launches footsteps2brilliance

Covington Independent Public Schools, with the help of generous members of our community, is providing FREE unlimited access to the program, Footsteps2Brilliance, to every child who lives in Covington or attends a preschool or school in the city. The program is designed to help Covington children to become proficient readers by third grade.

The district launched the city-wide initiative in December at the Life Learning Center in Covington with parents, school and city officials, students from Covington public and parochial schools, day care centers and preschools.

The web-based platform accelerates learning through more than 1,000 interactive books, games, and songs, and is available any time of day, every day, to maximize learning opportunities.  It is designed for children pre-K through third grade.

“Parents can make a real difference in a child’s learning while grocery shopping, waiting at the dentist’s office, or travelling – it’s all right there,’’said Covington Superintendent Alvin Garrison.  “Children can craft stories, learn how to rhyme, and read through this interactive program. This is a huge opportunity for all Covington families and children to get an early jump on school success.”

Children do not need to be enrolled in Covington Independent Public Schools to access Footsteps2Brilliance. All households in Covington zip codes will have free access to the program.

For more information, please contact your child’s school or contact Suzanne Thompson, Suzanne.thompson@covington.kyschools.us or 859-669-1105.
