A Message From Superintendent Garrison

Alvin Garrison

I can truly say, I have missed seeing our wonderful students in Covington Independent Public Schools. The administration, board, teachers and staff look forward to having our students in classrooms on Monday, February 22, 2021 (weather permitting) as we return to in-person instruction under the “A/B” Hybrid Model.

This means reopening to in-person instruction part of the time and remote learning for the rest. Students who opt for the Covington Virtual Academy will remain online full time.

During this COVID-19 pandemic, we have made plans only to be changed because of circumstances beyond our control. It is hard, and sometimes impossible, to plan for the unknown. But please be assured that the health and well-being of our students and staff will always be our top priority.

I would like to thank our students, teachers and staff, parents and guardians for their commitment and flexibility. This certainly has been no easy task. We may have to make adjustments again, if and when changes require.

As for now, we will do our part to keep our schools open. In Covington, we will wear face coverings/masks, take the temperature of students/staff, frequently clean and disinfect schools, buses and office buildings, socially distance, wash our hands and stay home when we are sick.

We wish you all well and look forward to seeing our students on Monday.
