Covington Independent Public Schools is adjusting its schedule once again. With COVID-19 positive cases rising, the district has made the difficult decision for all students to remain on remote learning January 4-15, 2021. We are targeting the return to in-person instruction on January 19, 2021 if health conditions allow.
As always, our main concern is for the safety of our students and staff, and we feel that the implementation of all remote learning is the best decision at this time. Our region has seen an increase in COVID-19 positive cases and health officials predict a surge in cases after the Christmas and New Year holidays.
When the district returns to in-person instruction, parents still have the option of sending their children to school on the hybrid model or full remote learning in the Covington Virtual Academy. Students will be out of school on Monday, January 18 for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. On Tuesday, January 19, students in the A rotation will return to in-person instruction and students in the B rotation will return to school on Thursday, January 21 and Friday, January 22. The district has already asked parents to select the option for their children. If you have not already done so, please contact your child’s school.
This school year we have had to make many changes because of COVID-19. We thank you for all you have done and thank you for your patience as we continue to navigate these unchartered waters.
Please have a nice and safe holiday.
