March 13 Letter About NTI Days

Dear Parents:

As you may know, the governor of Kentucky Thursday recommended that all schools in the commonwealth cease in-person instruction for 10 days to help combat the spread of the coronavirus. Covington Schools will follow the governor’s recommendation. The district will close beginning Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 27. As of now, students will return to school on Monday, March 30.

During the closure, the district will provide required educational activities for our students through the Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) program. More information on NTI is enclosed in this package. The district also will provide breakfast and lunch for our students. Please see the provided flyer for specific details.

Please note that all field trips and extracurricular activities, including sports competitions and practices, will be canceled during the time we are out of school.

In addition, School Based Health Center services that are offered by our nurse practitioner and dentist will not be available at our schools during the closure. HealthPoint Family Care offers these same services at its clinic located at 1401 Madison Avenue. HealthPoint is open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. for appointments or walk-ins, and Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. for walk-ins only. Call 859 655-6100 for more information.

Please know that we will continue to keep you informed as we receive updates from our state and local officials on COVID-19.

As always, we thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Alvin L. Garrison,
Superintendent
