Mayor proclaims Summer Learning Day in Covington

Covington Mayor Sherry Carran on Thursday proclaimed "Summer Learning Day,'' in the city after touring the Covington Summer Scholars Program at John G. Carlisle Elementary School.

Every elementary school in Covington Independent Public Schools hosts a five week Summer Scholars Program where students have fun learning about different countries and cultures while practicing reading skills and math facts. Summer learning programs, like Covington Summer Scholars, are proven to maintain and advance students’ academic and social growth, keep children safe and healthy during the summer, and send young people back to school ready to learn.
