Covington students honored during MLK ceremonies

Covington students honored during MLK ceremonies

Several students from Covington schools were honored during Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ceremonies Monday for academic achievement and their writing prowess.  During the noon celebration hosted by the Northern Kentucky NAACP, Holmes High School senior Brennon Englemon was honored with a $500 scholarship. Brennon wants to be a Certified Public Accountant.  He has not decided which college he will attend, but he says University of Kentucky is at the top of his list.

At the Convene for the Dream celebration hosted by the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, two Covington students were among the writing contest winners.  Demarah Everson, a fifth grade student at Glenn O. Swing Elementary School and Lajeria Robinson, a ninth grade students at Holmes High School, each received a plaque and $100 for their award winning entries.

In addition, the top seniors from Holmes High School Class of 2016 were recognized for their academic achievement. Superintendent Alvin Garrison and Holmes Counselor Jon Hopkins presented the awards.  And to top it off, two Holmes seniors served as mistress and master of ceremonies of the event  – Brennon Englemon and Mia Englemon. Job well done.  Congratulations all.
