Hornblower to Step Down as Holmes High Principal

Scott Hornblower

Holmes High School principal Scott Hornblower requested a change in assignment Wednesday afternoon.

Covington Independent Public Schools spokesperson Debra Vance told The River City News that Hornblower announced at a staff meeting Wednesday afternoon that he would be leaving his position as principal soon.

“I have enjoyed working at Holmes for the past five years, but I feel that this decision is in the best interest of my students and my family,’’ Hornblower said in an announcement.

Hornblower will remain at Holmes until the school-based decision-making council meets on Nov. 11 to determine next steps, which could include hiring an interim principal and/or outlining the process for finding his replacement, the district said.

Hornblower’s request for reassignment means he will still be working in the district, but not at Holmes. Parents were notified of the change via telephone Wednesday evening. In addition, a letter will be sent home with students Thursday.

Hornblower said working with the students and staff of Holmes has been a great experience.

“I will surely miss being in contact with the students and staff,’’ Hornblower said. “I wish everyone all the best. I certainly thank you for your understanding in this matter.”
